How to find the e-books?

E-books can be found in ProQuest's own interface. You can find them also when browsing SeAMK-Finna. In Finna, you can narrow search results to e-books and publications available online only.

Usage rights and login info

Degree students and the staff of the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. Walk-in users in library premises. Access on university's computer network and through remote access. Use HAKA (=SeAMK university email and password) to login.

Number of simultaneous users

Varies. Most e-books have unlimited access. Individual e-books that the library has purchased usually have limited access, 1-3 simultaneous users / e-book.

You can read e-books online in ProQuest's own reader.

Downloading the e-book

You can also download ebooks to your own device. For the first time, you will need to download a software to read the ebook.
Use HAKA (=SeAMK university email and password) to login.

  1. If you are downloading an e-book for the first time, create yourself an Adobe ID and download a free Adobe Digital Editions Reader to your computer.
  2. Open the reader and authorize it with your Adobe ID (= email address which you used when creating your Adobe account).
  3. Search the book from Ebook Central. NB! Click the title!
  4. Downloading is possible only if you are signed in. Use HAKA (=SeAMK university email and password) to login.
  5. Click Full Download or Available for Full Download.
  6. Follow Ebook Central's instructions.
  7. Download the e-book and open the file with your ready installed Adobe Digital Editions Reader.
  8. The book downloads and opens in Adobe Digital Editions. It may take a while.
  9. You can also transfer e-books to an e-reader in Adobe Digital Editions.

You can download and read Ebook Central e-books on your mobile devices by using the free Adobe Digital Editions App. Download Adobe Digital Editions to your device from your app store and authorize the app with your Adobe ID.

Downloading is possible only if you are signed in. Use HAKA (=SeAMK university email and password) to login.

Loan periods

You can read e-books online in Ebook Central's own reader. There is no loan periods in online reading. If you download an e-book to your computer or mobile device, the loan period varies from 1 to 21 days.


Limited. Print limits vary from book to book. You can see the copy and print limits under each book.

Returns, renewals, holds

E-books will be returned automatically but you can return them by yourself as well. You cannot renew or request Ebook Central e-books. If you would like to have a longer loan period, you must return the book first and download it to the reader again.


The user can select "enable text only mode" and "enable opendyslexic typeface" in the accessibility settings of the service, which support the use of screen readers and text-to-speech. Ebook Central's normal online reading mode does not support screen readers.
